What is the Zakat Calculator?
Zakat (زكاة) is one of the Five Pillars of Islam  an obligatory annual almsgiving paid by eligible Muslims on wealth that has been held for one full lunar year (Hawl) and exceeds the Nisab threshold. The standard Zakat rate is 2.5% (one-fortieth) of the total zakatable wealth. Zakat purifies wealth, fulfils a religious obligation and redistributes wealth within the Muslim community to the eight eligible categories (asnaf) mentioned in Quran 9:60.
Why people use this calculator
Calculating Zakat correctly can be complex when wealth spans multiple asset types  gold, silver, cash, business inventory, stocks and cryptocurrency each have specific rulings. This calculator applies the rules of all four major madhabs (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i and Hanbali), explains key differences (especially on jewelry), and gives you a clear, verified Zakat figure with a full breakdown chart.
How to use the Zakat Calculator  summary
- Choose your Nisab standard: Select the Gold Nisab (85g gold  widely used in contemporary fatawa) or Silver Nisab (595g silver  lower threshold, includes more wealth). Enter the current gold or silver price per gram in your local currency.
- Enter your zakatable assets: Fill in your cash savings, gold (in grams), silver (in grams), gold jewelry (if you follow the Hanafi madhab), business inventory, trade receivables, stocks, cryptocurrency and other investments.
- Deduct your liabilities: Enter short-term debts and immediate liabilities due within the next 12 months. These are deducted from your total assets before calculating Zakat. Long-term debts are NOT deducted according to most scholars.
- Review your Zakat breakdown: See whether your net wealth meets or exceeds the Nisab. If eligible, your Zakat amount (2.5%) is calculated with a full asset-by-asset breakdown chart and a monthly equivalent figure for payment planning.
